How to Help

Building houses with Habitat is an experience you’ll never forget. Our volunteer opportunities don’t require special skills or construction experience, just a readiness to pitch in and help. Some Habitat volunteers build houses, while others work with families, reach out to sponsors or serve on a variety of planning committees.

Volunteer on one of our projects and help fulfill our mission to put God's love into action.

  • Groups

You can have a great teamwork experience and help others by volunteering at one of our Habitat projects. Manage an existing group or start a new one—our projects involve companies, service clubs, professional associations, church groups and many other organizations.

  • Youth Involvement
    Youth Involvement

A youth volunteer day is a great way for youth to learn the value of helping others.  Although you must be 18 years or older to operate a power tool on a Habitat work site there are plenty of other opportunities for youth to help.  The youth will experience working with the Habitat family and seeing the impact they have made.

  • Ages 16-17

Minors 16–17 are allowed to participate in construction work, but are prohibited from using power tools; being on ladders, scaffolding, or walk boards more than 4 ft. higher than surrounding area; being on platforms or decks without hand or guard rails when more than 4 ft. above surrounding area; and being on a roof or participating in roofing. Minor groups participating on a build site must have adult supervision. All minors must complete a liability waiver and have it signed by their parent or guardian.

  • Ages 15 and Under

Minors 15 and under are not allowed on site unless it is to bring food and drinks during the lunch break when there is no active construction.

  • Non-Construction Opportunities

Some of our volunteer opportunities involve other skills than construction. If you have skills such as organization, event planning, finance management, leadership, and marketing you can volunteer and share your valuable skills.   There is always need for help in our administrative tasks, committee's & board, special events,  fundraisers, or daily operations management.
